In a testament to the resilience and determination of young participants, the first-ever MAUM Heroes Tournament unfolded amidst the picturesque backdrop of Dantai Elpizo Beach Adventure Camp (DEBAC) in Sabah, Malaysia. Despite facing unexpected challenges, our participants from the inaugural MAUM camporee gathered to witness and partake in this historic event.
Initially scheduled for the afternoon of April 9, the tournament faced a setback when an unforeseen electricity cut-off and signal drop forced organizers to reschedule it to coincide with the closing ceremony of the camporee on April 11. Despite the inconvenience, the enthusiasm and spirit of the participants remained unwavering.
The Heroes Tournament, one of the highlights of the MAUM camporee, aimed to promote the Heroes Bible Trivia Games and encourage the spirit of studying the Bible among the youth. It was made possible thanks to the invitation and sponsorship of MAUM Youth Ministries. Despite the tournament occurring after the conclusion of the camporee, the young participants chose to extend their stay and actively engage in the competition.
Hosted by Pr. Jay Edison Lawrence, the Heroes tournament was a successful one. Despite the delay and the challenges faced, the atmosphere at DEBAC was filled with excitement and energy as participants cheered each other on and celebrated the true essence of heroism. Following intense competition and spirited performances, 20 winners were awarded prizes adorned with the Heroes logo, generously funded by MAUM Youth Ministries.
As the first-ever MAUM Heroes Tournament draws to a close, it left an indelible mark on all who were to be part of this unforgettable experience and uplift the spirit of all, setting a precedent for future endeavours and inspiring the churches and the youth to be “Heroes” and to shine for the Lord.
Let’s play Heroes!
