“Cravings of the Soul”: Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day Celebrated Across MAUM

Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day (WMED) officially fell on June 14, 2025. However, churches across the Malaysia Union Mission (MAUM) celebrated the special day on different Sabbaths throughout June and July, according to their respective church calendars. This year’s WMED centered on the powerful theme, “Cravings of the Soul.”

At Sungai Way Seventh-day Adventist Indian Church in the Peninsular Malaysia Mission, the celebration took place on June 14. Puan Faridah Lausin, Women’s Ministries Director of MAUM, delivered a sermon titled “Cravings of the Soul.” The message emphasized that while each of us is already God’s masterpiece—deeply cherished and uniquely formed—our souls will continue to long for something more until we come to Jesus. In Him, we discover the “three I’s”: our true Identity, fulfilling Intimacy, and life’s Intention or purpose.

In the afternoon, the atmosphere grew even more vibrant as the celebration became a regional gathering. Four other Indian congregations – Bukit Jelutong, Kuala Selangor, Puchong, and Shah Alam churches – joined Sungai Way for a follow-up seminar presented by Miss Christine Tan, Women’s Ministries Director of the Peninsular Malaysia Mission. Her seminar, titled “Cravings of the Soul: Finding Fulfillment in Christ,” guided participants through a meaningful journey of reflection and spiritual connection. A total of 31 women attended the afternoon session.

In the Sarawak Mission, approximately 200 church members, mostly women from regions 4 and 5, gathered on June 21 at Ayer Manis School Hall in Serian to celebrate WMED. Puan Yvonne Jabeng, Women’s Ministries Director of Sarawak Mission, presented the seminar “Masterpiece in the Making,” which explored the idea that although we already belong to God as His masterpieces, we are still works in progress. The seminar encouraged women to embrace the ongoing journey of spiritual growth and transformation that God is lovingly carrying out in their lives. Following the seminar, Puan Faridah Lausin shared a sermon that built on its message. The Sabbath celebration was also enriched by special music from choirs representing the different regions. As the program concluded and participants shared a potluck meal together, satisfying the physical cravings of hunger, they were reminded of a deeper truth: only Jesus can satisfy the true cravings of the soul.

By the end of July, 282 churches in MAUM had conducted Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day, presenting the same sermon and seminar to consistently highlight this year’s theme across the Union.
