The Adventist Youth Ministries of Sarawak successfully conducted the Voice of Youth (VOY) Harvest Camp from 2\u20136 April 2025 at Serian, Sarawak. Themed \u201cHarvest\u201d<\/em>, the camp brought together more than 500 young people across the state with the goal of empowering them as modern-day disciples to actively participate in evangelism and service. The theme was inspired by Matthew 9:37, Then He said to His disciples, The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few (NKJV) and aligned with the Southern Asia-Pacific Division\u2019s mission focus for the year, calling on youths to be workers in God’s harvest field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camp commenced with a strong spiritual emphasis, featuring messages from regional leaders including leaders from the Regional Headquarters of the Southern Asia-Pacific, Youth Director Pastor Ron Genebago, Interfaith Services Director Pastor Abner Dizon, from the Malaysia Headquarters, Youth Director Elder Farrel Gara and Sarawak Headquarters President Pastor Semilee Tajau, united prayer sessions as well as praise and worship sessions. Each emphasised the importance of youth ministry and urged participants to answer God’s call with conviction and readiness, echoing Isaiah 6:8, Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: \u201cWhom shall I send, And who will go for Us?\u201d Then I said, \u201cHere am I! Send me.\u201d (NKJV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 8 sermons were shared by youths from different churches to complete the VOY Evangelistic Series during the camp. Topics such as \u201cOne Life Changes the World,\u201d \u201cThe Great Escape,\u201d and \u201cBorn to Live Forever?\u201d<\/em> were presented by engaging speakers like Mr. Glen Jimbai and Ms. Evyanne Nicoleson. These messages were supported by vibrant worship led by AY groups from various churches, fostering spiritual growth and a sense of unity. The VOY Harvest Camp also kicked off the state-wide Voice of Youth Evangelistic season, which will take place in over 35 sites in the coming weeks with young people as the speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camp also featured a dynamic array of activities\u2014sports, group games, cultural performances, and a campfire night\u2014to promote fellowship, teamwork, and community spirit. The Sabbath celebration included special worship services, a youth-led Sabbath School, and a baptism ceremony, signifying the spiritual impact of the camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of activities offered, many of which challenged their physical fitness and pushed them beyond their comfort zones. For many, it was their first time meeting youths from all over the state, providing a unique opportunity to form new friendships and experience a sense of independence. 17-year-old Celes from Miri expressed deep gratitude for the new experiences that enriched personal and spiritual growth. Through the various programs, she learned the value of teamwork, the importance of good communication skills, and the depth of God\u2019s love, which surpasses human understanding. While Regina from Sibu emphasised appreciation on the learning of humility, the significance of supporting one another, and the joy of respecting differences. Most importantly, participants were inspired to become faithful youths in the Lord\u2019s work, carrying forward the lessons learned into their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sarawak Youth Director, Pr. Chan Tin Loi, reiterated in closing, how each youth is important in God\u2019s work. \u201cYou are full of energy, creativity, and passion. God is calling you to be part of His harvest. He wants you to be His voice in your schools, families, churches, and communities.\u201d He further challenged them to be ready and willing to serve God and, while doing so, to be faithful, humble, kind, helpful, and courageous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organised with the support of Sarawak Adventist church leadership, in collaboration with Southern Asia-Pacific and Malaysia Regional leaders, and the many dedicated committee members, the camp was a comprehensive blend of worship, learning, and recreation. It successfully inspired and empowered young people to answer the call, \u201cWe Will Go,\u201d preparing them to be faithful harvesters for God\u2019s kingdom. The camp concluded with a celebration of unity, talent showcases, and heartfelt farewells, leaving lasting spiritual impressions on all who attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
